Advent Devotions for Moms Day 5
Now Mary arose in those days and went into the hill country with haste, to a city of Judah and entered the house of Zacharias and greeted Elizabeth.
And it happened, when Elizabeth heard the greeting of Mary, that the babe leaped in her womb; and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit.
Then she spoke out with a loud voice and said, “Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb! But why is this granted to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me? For indeed, as soon as the voice of your greeting sounded in my ears, the babe leaped in my womb for joy.
Blessed is she who believed, for there will be a fulfillment of those things which were told her from the Lord.” Luke 1:39-1:45
Considerations for a Chilly Night with a Hot Drink….
Truth of Learning Curves:
There are people in our lives listening and saying “yes” to the heartbeat of the angel speaking with you. Elizabeth lived this way in Mary’s presence. When we are given a message, destiny, an idea from God, we can go to these kindreds because they have received. They are full. They in turn, respect our miracles and help with learning curves…like Elizabeth did in her third trimester when Mary was in her first.
Truth of Leaping Babies:
Kindreds acknowledge our path, our “creation”, our calling. Their miracle calls to our miracle and they acknowledge words that are to our soul like leaping babies validating life: you’re doing it… I’m so excited for you… I get it, keep going.
Truth of Humility:
Pursue others wisely. When we find someone who knows their calling and are following their path – call them for coffee, bring them holiday cookies. Then watch what happens…they honor us back. They encourage, inspire, inquire and lean in. They feel our path with us. Conversely, when we find ourselves among people that dishonor us for our holy work, the perspective stings less, holding less weight. We need to sit with, and soak in “our people”. They remind us to move toward the blessing of belief.
Truth of Identity:
When we find kindreds, (doing His creative, amazing work in the world), they call out blessing on us. They acknowledge our belief and faith to “birth” a miracle. Let me be clear- this “miracle” is whatever is your calling, your grace, your idea, your “baby” and given so our soul says, “so awesome, why me?!” Without reservation, hesitation or judgement, they cheer us on, bless us, show us their path and listen to our truth. “What can I do to help?… I want you to tell me more… You’re onto something big…”
This passage is one of kindred spirits.
In the midst of a few quiet moments before drifting to sleep or before they pile into the kitchen after school or over dinner dishes, discover God’s spark in you, and listen for His joy.
In preparations for the holiday season, look for and put a coffee shop chat on the calendar with those around you who are your people, your journey champions, the ones who bravely receive their own miracles and are unafraid of yours.
Look for the Elizabeths…. They are rare, but they are.
