Advent Devotions for Moms

“Now all this was done that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord

by the prophet saying, ‘Behold, a virgin shall be with child and shall bring forth a son,

and they shall call his name Emmanuel which being interpreted is ‘God with us’.

Then Joseph being raised from sleep did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him

and took unto him his wife and did not know her

until she brought forth her firstborn son and he called his name JESUS.”

Luke 1:22-25

TRUST is….

— going to bed at night from exhaustion not having answers

— believing that one morning, you’ll know everything you need to know

— listening, resonating with truth, believing

— not asking questions, just acting on guidance

— following next steps given

— not satisfying yourself until a bigger purpose is served

— knowing that God with us is in, on, and guiding the journey

— seeing Jesus at the end

MOM TRUST:

— going to bed at night without answers about a child, situation or need, and never stop praying, but going to bed nonetheless

–listening, resonating with truth, believing what will work, what will not work, what they will and won’t receive and waiting, and waiting some more

— not asking questions, just acting on guidance when the time is right, usually on a long car ride somewhere

— following next steps given often involving a meal, a few questions, choosing to listen without judgement to deepen understanding and sharpen prayers

— not satisfying yourself until a bigger purpose is served and sometimes that means personal sacrifice of time, money or energy until a bigger family issue is met, resolved, understood, or collaborated

— knowing that God with us is in, on, and guiding the journey so we are safe, loved, cared for

— seeing Jesus at the end
